Garden Tour - Gareth Griffiths
Over the past nine years, Gareth has transformed a vacant village lot into a collector's
garden featuring many different species. With privacy in mind and a single magnolia tree at the
center, half of this narrow and deep lot became a hidden garden "room". A bluestone patio
surrounded by curving beds containing not only perennials and herbs but contrasting textures, shapes and
colors. Mixed borders of unusual plants surround the house and the rest of the lot.
Of special interest are the many clematis varities climbing up fences and conifers, a 40' long, low limestone wall,
a weeping Japanese Katsura tree, sculpture, espaliered apple trees, and her special passion -
an extensive collection of conifers and dwarf conifers. The garden was featured in
the October 2007 issue of Better Homes and Gardens.
