Habitat for Humanity - S-G Project

In May of 2004, after a long planning stage, Habitat for Humanity began construction in the Scotia-Glenville area with plans for building two homes. The small group of volunteers gathered at the site just off of Rt. 147 on May 3, 2004, with a "Blessing of the Project" by the local Methodist minister.

The lot was very overgrown, never developed, and clearing took a few weeks of backbreaking labor. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on June 13, 2004, and after unforeseen delays, the foundations were dug on July 20th. As of April 2005, both families are now in their homes, and a new project begins in Schenectady..
