"Divide and Conquer" could describe the solution to best utilize this Schenectady city lot. A fence with a pergola gate runs horizontally across the backyard, creating two spaces; an entertainment area and a garden area. The focal point of the entertainment space is the cement water fountain on a cobblestone patio. The garden section is still evolving - ornamental trees have been strategically placed to anchor the garden. The plan for the garden is to first concentrate on summer color, using hydrangea and hosta. Visitors will also admire the beautiful wrap-around porch, which provides cool shade on a hot summer afternoon and additional seating.
