Garden Tour - Sally and Jack Quinn
This is a young - 5 to 6 years - urban garden with emphasis on structure and foliage.
The extant (wildly overgrown) yews, now formally shaped, served as an anchor for the house
end of the garden and curving swaths were established along the rear, as balance, with an axis line from
the center of the family room windows. It is largely a shady space and the potter's clay,
over shale, makes soil improvement an ongoing project. It is most dramatically viewed from
above, from inside the house (and we HAVE that here - thank you, Sally!) but it is a
peaceful and engaging space from within as well, and most people who visit it don't feel
they are in the middle of the city.
