Local Landmark
If you watched the news in January of 2011, you are aware of the effort to save the Scotia Diner.
The
diner has been in the village for many, many years...we went there on Saturday mornings when we moved
back to Scotia in 1985. It's a real small town diner - the kind with that GREAT diner food - and it is slated to be
leveled along with some run down buildings that surround it to make way for a housing complex that many residents of the
Village don't seem to want. In the plan, there is no allowance for the diner to continue to operate at that location. SO, they are
actively seeking another site and I sure hope they can find one. It would be a loss for the village to lose this
bit of Americana.
I had the chance to take some pictures this morning. My thanks to Anita and Terry for allowing me to
publish this page on the diner. You will also see one of their charitable collection spots in the photos, for Clowns on Rounds
which serves local hospitals and nursing homes (and of which Anita is actively involved). They also support the Animal Protective Foundation
on Maple Avenue. Enjoy!
