A Bit of History

Sunday afternoon, Pat and I went over to Lock 9 to get pictures of the Onrust- a hand built replica of a Dutch yacht that was built in 1614.

We were amazed at the craftsmanship...this ship has been under construction since 2006 - you can read all about it at the link (click on "The Onrust" link previous). I met and talked with Debbie Bowdish - Shipwright (in the Onrust T shirt) and she pointed out Greta Wagle, - Vice President of the project (in the black-and-white shirt on the Onrust). The story is fascinating and the Onrust is a work of art. Enjoy some photos. I hope to get a picture when her sails are hoisted.
