Friends Helping Friends
That was the theme for a benefit held on March 1st to help the Charlton Tavern and the Maloney
family in their efforts to rebuild the tavern. The Charlton Tavern was totally destroyed by an
early morning electrical fire - consuming both the tavern and a home next door to it. This happened
right after the burial of the Maloney patriarch...a double blow to the family and the community of Charlton.
BUT - plans are underway to rebuild the 'Heart of Charlton' and on March 1st, the community turned out in droves
to attend a benefit which included food and drink, a silent auction, and entertainment. The photos below don't
capture the sheer number of supporters who filled the rooms of the Elks Club and spilled outdoors into an
afternoon that was perfect. The following day we had snow.
I hope to take more pictures as the Tavern is
rebuilt and will post them here on Gardenlady. For now, come on along to the benefit. A complete set of photos may be found
at my site at Fotki, and permissions have been set to copy or share photos. Check out my pages here and then
